We’re gearing up for a dive down under, to the Aquacelerator Kickoff Summit in Perth, Australia, where we’ll catch the top ten innovation teams from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Blue Economy Challenge. The Summit, being held on the 7th and 8th of December, 2016, convenes a diverse selection of partners from across the aquaculture supply chain, to begin charting out how to bring these inspiring ideas to market and revolutionise the sustainability of the aquaculture industry and the development of local economies across the Indian Ocean region.
Announced in February 2016, our Blue Economy Challenge called on inventive minds all around the world to surface solutions with the potential to transform aquaculture in the Indian Ocean region. In September, a cross sector panel of experts selected ten teams, from hundreds of proposals submitted by ambitious thinkers in more than forty countries, to join the Aquacelerator: a five month program of customised support, including business growth and networking opportunities, to bring their ideas to global markets.
Coming from countries across the Indian Ocean region, the Americas, Europe and Latin America, Aquacelerator teams will showcase their innovations to a highly curated collection of Aquacelerator Council Members, who will offer strategic guidance and explore opportunities for these innovations to make a profound impact on the communities they work with and the industry as a whole. Together, we’ll engage in an intensive week of workshops and meetings designed to help innovators sharpen their product pitches, delineate their business scope, build strategic partnerships and foster collaboration, to ignite their cutting-edge ideas beyond Aquacelerator.
After the Kickoff Summit, Fellows will spend an additional four months working with the Aquacelerator network, to turn their ideas into global gamechangers. Track Aquacelerator’s journey on social media: #Aquacelerator & facebook.com/secondmuse.
